Matthew 13 - Are we good dirt?
Based on what we were taught this weekend, I thought I'd spend a little more time studying the characteristics of the dirt Jesus described in Matthew 13. More than anything I want to be rich soil. I found the following, written by a youth pastor, and thought it so good. "As with most of Jesus’ parables the disciples are clueless as to what He means by what He says. so Jesus explains to them what it all means. the birds taking the seeds is people not understanding and satan snatching away what was sown in them. the ones that fell in the rocky places is like a person who hears the message of Jesus and gets excited and joyful over it, but then fades away as trials and trouble comes. the ones that fell in the thorns are people who hear the Word of God but are kept from growing by the worries of life, making them unfruitful. and the seeds that fall on good soil are the people who hear the Gospel and understand it, then becoming fruitful."
